More than 8,000+ Procedures Performed

If hip or knee pain is making it hard to climb stairs, get in and out of the car, or sleep through the night — you are not alone. These are among the most common challenges people face after 50, and they tend to get worse over time without treatment.

The good news: joint replacement surgery has come a long way. Today’s procedures are faster, safer, and far less disruptive than what your parents may have experienced. Most of Dr. Gough’s patients walk the same day as surgery and go home within 24 hours.

Dr. Brandon Gough specializes in minimally invasive, muscle-sparing, robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement in Scottsdale, Arizona. His approach is designed to reduce pain, speed recovery, and get you back to doing what matters most.

ORTHOPAEDIC PROCEDURES

Hip & Knee Procedures

Dr. Gough was the first surgeon in Arizona to use the muscle sparing approach with robotic assistance and has been doing this type of joint replacement since 2013

Robotic Total Knee Replacement - MAKOplasty®

Partial Knee replacement - MAKOplasty®

Total Hip Replacement (Direct Superior) - MAKOplasty®

The entire team and the entire experience has been exceptional!
My initial consultation with Dr Gough put me at ease that I was in good hands. Every person that I spoke with from financial obligation to pre-op and post-op care has been the best. Whitney, the PA in the office, is very knowledgeable, caring, and personable. The surgery center was top notch and I’m on the mend. I’m so happy that I chose Gough Surgical for my knee replacement. Thank you to Everyone on the team!

Dr. Gough did a full hip replacement for me. Everything was amazing from beginning appointment to a full recovery after 8 physical therapy sessions. His staff is helpful and very knowledgeable. The method he uses allowed me to walk unaided in just a day or two without restrictions. Of course it took about six weeks to get full range and strength. My number one desire was a surgeon who was experienced, confident, and capable of handling anything since you never know with surgery. Dr. Gough has my complete trust.

MAKO BY STRYKER

Modern Technology. Proven Results.

Traditional joint replacement surgery came with long recovery times, large incisions, and a list of restrictions that could last for months. That has changed.

Dr. Gough uses advanced robotic-assisted technology and micro-invasive techniques that most surgeons in the Scottsdale area do not offer. His implants are made from high-performance materials designed to move like your natural joint — and last 25 to 30 years or more.

Yes. Dr. Gough is a past consultant and educator for Stryker Orthopaedics and actively trains surgeons from across the country and around the world in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted joint replacement techniques. He is currently leading the development of a Robotic Center of Excellence for hip and knee replacement.
Minimally invasive surgery uses smaller incisions — typically 4 to 6 inches versus the traditional 10 to 12 inches — and is designed to preserve the muscles and soft tissue surrounding the joint. This leads to less pain after surgery, a faster recovery, and fewer complications compared to traditional open approaches.
A muscle-sparing approach means that the major muscles around the joint — particularly the quadriceps in knee surgery and the hip muscles in hip surgery — are carefully worked around rather than cut. Because the muscles are not divided, patients typically experience significantly less post-operative pain, a faster return to walking, and a more natural recovery.
